Just like healthy eating habits are necessary to maintain your physical health, some other factors are equally important for your health and need your attention.

To live a healthy lifestyle, you need to focus on your health and fitness. Because both of them are directly linked to each other and if one is lost, the other one also vanishes.

I am going to tell you about few habits that determine your health condition.

Just like your healthy eating habits, drinking enough fluids is also necessary to maintain your health. We humans cannot survive without water intake. But sometimes, we cut back on our fluid intake and drink so less amount of water that our body becomes dehydrated and stops performing in the best possible way. 

A person belonging to any age group needs adequate fluid intake to keep his body hydrated and healthy. If you are eating healthy food, but your fluid intake is not sufficient then your good eating habit will not be able to keep you healthy. The non-replaceable fluid to keep our bodies hydrated is water and drinking one to two liters of water is recommended by the majority of doctors. 

You may be thinking that I am over-emphasizing the importance of maintaining good health for a healthy lifestyle. But you should understand that without having a healthy body and mind no one can get a healthy lifestyle. If a person remains dehydrated for some time, he may face a negative effect on his memory, mood, concentration, and reaction timing. 

Your body needs fluids to digest food properly and for bowel movements. But in the absence of adequate fluids, your body might suffer from digestive problems and chronicle constipation. Besides the digestive system, the proper intake of fluids helps you maintain and even in weight loss. If you are taking enough amount of fluids, you will feel fuller for a longer time and you will cut back on calorie intake. Moreover, drinking additional glasses of water before every meal would help you feel less hungry and in return, you would eat smaller portions and eventually you would start losing weight.

  • Tips to improve fluid intake

I started taking an adequate amount of fluids when I understood the importance of detoxification. When you take an adequate amount of fluids all the waste and harmful materials from your blood come out of your body through urination, sweating, breathing, and bowel movement.

I can share a few tips which I practiced personally to improve my fluid intake.

  1. My nutritionist told me that I have to take at least eight glasses of water daily to improve my detoxification process.
  2. She also told me that whenever you feel thirsty instantly grab a big glass of water and gulp it without wasting a single moment. I did it and within a few weeks my thirst increased and I started drinking adequate water.
  3. In addition to plain water, I also started drinking plain coffee, tea, freshly squeezed juices, detox water, etc. These drinks not only supplemented my fluid requirement but also helped me with weight loss and naturally cleansed skin.
  4. During the start of developing the habit of drinking adequate water, I bought a large bottle and started carrying it with me everywhere. As my bottle gets emptied, I instantly refill it. So, this technique helped me a lot in achieving the goal of drinking adequate water.

Drinking adequate fluids has so many positive impacts on my physical and mental health that I made it a priority. So, if you want to achieve the goal of having a healthy lifestyle, you have to maintain good health. But keep in mind that good health cannot be achieved without fulfilling the fluid requirement of your body.

  • Quit smoking and limit alcohol consumption to get freedom from your bad habits

It is a rough estimate that more than 11.5% of adults in the USA are smokers and alcohol consumers. The majority of people are smoking and drinking to combat tension and anxiety. But they forget that they have opted for the wrong way to battle their anxiety and tension. Because the consumption of alcohol and smoking exposes their users to higher health issues like cancer, strokes, heart problems, etc.

There is a large number of people who are smoking and drinking because their friends are doing so and they think that if they wouldn’t do it, they might not get socially accepted. These people are following a wrong trend blindly without thinking about what risks these two activities are bringing to them.

But it’s never too late… 

If you want to get a healthy lifestyle, you have to quit smoking and regulate your drinking habits. I am not saying that you have to quit smoking altogether. But you can set a time limit within which you have to achieve these goals.

  • Tips to quit smoking and regulate drinking habits

I can give you some handy tips to quit smoking and regulate your drinking habits.

  1. You have to tell yourself what is the reason for quitting smoking and regulating your drinking habit. If you are facing a health issue you have to make yourself realize that you cannot endanger your life for a bad habit. You have to remind yourself of the reason to quit these two habits daily and this will help you achieve your goal.
  2. You have to tell people around you that you are trying to quit smoking and regulate your drinking habit. This will make you affirm your goal and the people around you will try to support you to get your goal.
  3. Every person has a trigger point that makes him smoke or drink irregularly. While on the journey of quitting smoking and regulating drinking habits, you have to stay away from those triggers. 
  4. Many times, you would feel a craving for smoking or drinking, but you have to use your willpower to control this craving and divert your attention toward something else.
  5. Instead of quitting smoking and drinking altogether, you should try the portion control technique. At first, start smoking fewer cigarettes and then over some time bring the number to zero. In the same way, if you are drinking more than 14 units of alcohol in a week, bring this number to under 14 units. Because drinking 14 units of alcohol in a week is considered low-risk drinking. Once you achieve it, soon you would be able to regulate your drinking habit.
  • Uplift your lifestyle

Keep in mind that getting a healthy lifestyle is a painstaking thing. Without giving your sincere and hundred percent effort, you can never achieve it. In this journey, at first, you have to quit many things that you are used to doing and then get used to things that you never thought of doing before. But eventually, you will get the healthy and ideal lifestyle that you are desired for a long time.
