Hello guys! I am back with my new article. To get a healthy lifestyle, you have to take care of many factors that are controlling your life and then amend areas that need reform. But to do this, you need focus and an attentive mind, and the problem is several distractions around us are tampering with our focus and making us distant from our goals.

You are busy in your routine life, but a fellow of yours is telling you that you need to stop daydreaming or your colleague or class fellow lately told you that you need to improve your focus, because the quality of your work or your grades are suffering. You stopped for a moment and thought why these people are complaining about lack of focus and why you are not able to focus at all?

If this situation ever happens to you, you need to pay immediate attention to it. Because not only your productivity, but your mental well-being is also at risk. But the question is why you aren’t able to focus on your goals. The answer is the distractions around you make you lose focus and make your mind wander around.

Here, I am listing down the reasons for distractions in your life. 

  1. A person suffering from depression and anxiety could never focus so well in life. Because he is wearied off mind is not able to concentrate on anything. So, to regain focus and get ahead in life, you have to get rid of depression firsthand.
  1. A person suffering from emotional trauma can never focus and remains distracted until and unless he recovers from that trauma. When you are emotionally distressed, you will be in a state of grief and meaninglessness and won’t be able to complete your task on time and keep on piling things. 
  2. If your job lacks motivation for you, you may feel distracted and keep on looking around to find something that is just according to your taste and desire. So, you lose focus on your job and your projects become delayed which will badly impact your work life.
  3. A stressed relationship or a relationship that is not working so well is also a cause of distraction in your life. Because it will make you stressed and will not let you focus on other things in life and hence your lifestyle starts ruining.
  4. A healthy lifestyle needs a break to refresh your mind and body. but if you are stuck in a never-ending cycle of deadlines and ongoing projects you may lose your focus and start feeling distracted. Because your mind has become frustrated over this monotonous routine and now it has stopped making you feel happy and alive.

With every passing day, our lives are becoming more dependent and connected to devices like mobile phones, laptops, tablets, and smartwatches. Nowadays we cannot imagine our lives without these devices. So, this increased dependence on digital devices has raised the issue of digital distraction.

Digital devices are interfering with our lives and making us less productive, distracted, mentally stressed emotionally bound, and worn out. These devices were invented to make our lives easy and connected with others. However excessive use and dependency on them made us distracted and ruined the essence of a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

The producers of digital devices are working day and night to not let us cut off from these devices and live a balanced life. Because every other day they are offering new and modified features to stay connected not only with our loved ones but also to the whole world. Moreover, the cheap internet packages and their availability without any restrictions are worsening the situation. 

Social media websites like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, mailing websites, and a thread of other similar websites are making us bound to them and we have forgotten to focus on the actual goals of our lives. Whenever we unlock our mobile phone or tablet, we see notifications from various social media websites that make us open them and start scrolling. Now no matter what you were doing and how important it was, you became distracted and lost all of your focus. This is how your life is ruined due to over involvement of digital devices and social media websites in your life.

  • Disadvantages of distractions

A distraction in your life would ultimately make you suffer in your life and bring a lot of negative impacts. Some of these impacts are given below,

  1. A distraction makes you lose motivation and impacts the overall performance of a person. 
  2. A distracted mind makes mistakes that can be avoided firsthand. 
  3. A distracted mind can never make good and timely decisions.
  4. A distracted mind also suffers from memory loss and keeps on forgetting important tasks.
  5. If you have a distracted mind for any reason, you won’t have sufficient energy to perform well in life.
  6. A distracted mind wouldn’t let you get along with your teammates and friends.

Sometimes we become so busy and eaten up in our routine life that we need some distraction or a break to refresh our mind and body. Such a kind of distraction is called a healthy distraction and it is needed by each one of us to stay motivated and happy in our lives.

Here I am going to share a few healthy distractions with you so that you can enjoy life along with managing a hectic schedule. But before enjoying any healthy distraction, you need to remind yourself how much time window you have and then limit yourself according to it.

  1. Watch a movie or TV.
  1. Go for a walk.
  2. Meditate.
  3. Organize wardrobe.
  4. Play a game on your mobile phone.
  5. Create a doddle or some art piece.
  6. Take a nap.
  7. Read a book.
  8. Go for grocery or shopping.
  9. Call or text a friend.
  10. Rearrange or decorate your home.
  11. Go for a hike or visit a recreational spot.
  12. Sing a song in a loud voice.
  13. Dance to your favorite song.

  2. Clear out all unwanted and distracting noise in your workplace.
  3. Keep your mind clear and stress-free to utilize the maximum amount of your energy to achieve your goals.
  4. Break a big project into small chunks, as it will become easy to handle and the chances of losing focus will reduce.
  5. Keep reminding yourself about the goals that you want to achieve.
