To get a balanced and healthy lifestyle you need to keep on reforming different aspects of your life until you get the desired result.

In this article, I am going to tell you how your different habits are making or breaking your life. 

Your lifestyle is highly influenced by your habits. If you have a set of good habits then your lifestyle would be a healthy one, but if you have a set of bad habits then you can never have a healthy lifestyle. 

Let’s try to understand what the word habit means.

Habit means a routine of behavior that is repeated regularly and becomes part of our subconscious. It is also defined as a way of practice through a fixed routine. These definitions of habits tell us that habits are part of our behavior that we are repeating in our routine life and most often we are doing them unconsciously. Because they have become a compulsive part of our lives and we are practicing them without any conscious effort.

For example, some of us are used to say I have a habit of reading a book before going to bed, I have a habit of brushing my teeth before bedtime, I have a habit of eating a dessert after every meal or I have a habit of biting fingernails at the time of stress.

As your habits become part and partial of your routine life your brain is no longer controlling them. Hence, they are shaping your life and tell a great deal about you. It is often said that your habits tell who you are and my dear, that’s true. Because your habits whether they are good or bad mostly determine whether you are going to be happy or sad, healthy or unhealthy, satisfied or dissatisfied, etc. 

Your habits are affecting your attitudes, actions, decision-making ability, and course of life. So, before incorporating something as your habit you need to pay a great of attention to it. Because it is not so easy to alter something from your life that has become your habit.

  • Is there a difference between habit and routine?

Yes, there is a big difference between your habit and routine. The first thing that differentiates routine and habit from each other is that you are practicing your habits unconsciously, but on the other hand, you practice your routine through conscious effort. Also, your habit works on autopilot mode, which means you don’t need to force yourself to practice them. But your routine works through intentional effort and you need to remind yourself to practice it, otherwise they will die.

For example, you hear about the benefits of drinking detox water first thing in the morning and you start drinking it. You get up and remind yourself to drink detox water. So, drinking detox water by reminding your brain is a routine. But if someday you get up and drink detox water without reminding yourself then it has become your habit. Because you no longer need to remind yourself to do it and will do it on autopilot mode.

  • Healthy habits to improve your lifestyle

A healthy lifestyle not only gives you energy and zest for life, but it also improves your physical and mental health…. And your lifestyle greatly depends on your habits. So, to make your that you have a healthy set of habits, take a look at below below-mentioned habits that surely are healthy ones. 

  1. The first healthy habit is to eat healthy food and take care of your overall physical and mental health. For this, you need to eat organic food, eat salads, count your calories, avoid too much sugar intake, eat sufficient carbohydrates, eat healthy fats, not eat without feeling hungry, chew every bite quite well, work out regularly, stock up healthy food, and walk often. 
  1. The habit of going to bed at a specific time and switching off your mobile phone, tablet, laptop, and television half an hour before bedtime is a good habit and helps you sleep well.
  2. Don’t get too addicted to technology, as it will ruin many things in your life. Like you are at the dinner table with your family or friends, but you are busy with your mobile phone as per your habit. So, this habit will not let you enjoy healthy gossip with your family or friends. So, try to put aside your devices from time to time to enjoy other things in life.
  3. A few habits like gardening, taking care of your pets, going for morning or evening walks, going hiking, and growing fruits and vegetables help you reduce stress and make you feel light.
  4. The habit of planning a vacation, a trip with friends, or a dinner with a loved one regularly makes you feel energetic and takes you away from negative thoughts.
  5. The habit of meditation helps you get mental peace and inner satisfaction.
  6. The habit of learning something new keeps you excited and brings you out of your boring and hectic routine. Like learning a new language, a new skill, a new recipe, how to paint, or write a blog.
  7. The habit of helping others and bringing ease in someone else’s life is a good habit. Because it will have a positive impact on your life and let you make new and long-lasting bonds.
  8. The habit of doing the majority of tasks in your day is a good habit. As it will make you active and less dependent on others. This habit also improves your self-esteem and makes you self-sufficient. 
  9. The habit of standing straight and practicing a good posture gives a positive image of yourself to others. Because when your shoulders are bent and you slouch, it creates an overall image of hostility and failure. But when we sit and stand with stretched shoulders it creates an image of confidence and power and hence makes our mind feel good.
  10. If someone does something bad to you, instead of lingering on it and keeping a grudge in your heart and mind for that person, you need to move on and forgive that person. Because it will not only unburden yourself, but it will also make you feel stress-free.
  11. The habit of spending some time with yourself is the best one. Because it will let you explore yourself and keep your individuality alive. This habit not only lets you find out what you want, but it also makes you feel happy.

The essence of living is to keep struggling until your last breath and keep on trying to improve your life. Here I gave you another kick to get a healthy lifestyle… get up and analyze your habits, so that you can find out whether you have a set of good habits or bad ones and then reshape your life accordingly.
