For a happy and satisfied life, you have to create your routine and follow your mantra, because just like you are different from everyone else around you, your circumstances and challenges are also different. So, keep struggling and improving your life until you get what you want.
If you are eating healthy food, have regulated your smoking and drinking habits, take care of your beauty, and work out regularly, then you should also pay some attention to your sleeping routine. Because your goal of having a healthy lifestyle will never be accomplished if your body isn’t getting enough sleep and rest. Â
I know your busy schedule and race to keep pace with past moving life isn’t allowing you to get enough sleep and give rest to your brain and body. You haven’t slept well for long. But one thing that you don’t understand is that your poor sleeping habit is going to cost you your health.Â
Have you ever thought about why you often feel low and cringy and why your nerves feel stretched? The reason is your body needs proper rest and you are ignoring it. If you keep on ignoring this demand of your body, soon you will see a downfall in your health and it will impact your lifestyle badly.
Whether you are working on a day shift or working on a night shift, whether you are running a business or working from home, whether you are a student or a house-ridden elderly person, you need eight hours of sleep to keep your body and mind functioning properly.
- Why you should get proper sleep?
There is a long list of reasons to get proper and enough sleep. I am going to list down a few of them to give you motivation and insight.Â
- When you get enough sleep not only your body gets ready for the next working day, but your brain also gets time to process and prepare for the next day.Â
- You need an eight-hour sleep schedule to avoid diseases like insomnia, headaches, heart issues, and diabetes.
- You need proper sleep to get along with your loved ones and friends. Because if you don’t sleep properly your tired body and drowsy mind won’t allow you to enjoy the company of a loved one.
- For good decision making you need an active mind. So, get proper sleep to let your brain work actively and avoid stress.Â
- It is proven that people who stay awake for late hours at night feel more cravings and hunger. So, they end up consuming
- extra calories and gaining weight.
- When you don’t get enough, your digestive system starts getting weak and ultimately you end up at the doorstep of a doctor.
- If you are not sleeping well enough for a long time, you will start suffering from sleep disorders, memory loss, and permanent headaches.
- Rules to determine the health of your sleep
You can check the health of your sleeping habit by taking care of three rules and if you are missing even one or all of these three rules, then your sleeping habit needs immediate reform.
Here are the rules,
- Rule One
The first rule to undertake while determining the health of your sleep is for how much time you are sleeping every night.
2. Rule Two
The second rule to undertake while determining the health of your sleep is whether you are getting an uninterrupted sleep or not.Â
3. Rule Three
The last rule to undertake is whether you are following a consistent sleeping schedule or not.Â
- Troubleshoot your bad sleeping habit
I have told you about a few reasons to get good sleep and then how to test the health of your sleep. Now many of you must want to improve your sleeping habits. But they don’t know how to do this. So, here I am sharing a few tips with you people to reform your sleeping habits.
- The first tip to change your sleep habits is to stay physically active throughout the day. So that at night your body and mind are too tired to sleep get a proper sleep and restore their energy.
- Before getting on your bed to sleep, make sure your bedroom is clean and quiet and the place where you are sleeping is comfortable and cozy.
- Make a bedtime routine and go to bed at the same time every day. This would help you to maintain a perfect sleeping schedule.Â
- Avoid blue light exposure when your sleeping hours are about to start. Because blue light wouldn’t let your brain think that it’s time to get some sleep. So, avoid using a mobile phone, laptop, and television during your sleep hours and it would signal your mind that daytime is over and now your body needs to sleep.
- It is recommended that at night avoid using caffeine. Because a single dose of caffeine wouldn’t let your body naturally relax at night. It is proven that consuming caffeine after 4 P.M would worsen your sleep schedule and makes you stay awake for late hours.Â
- Many among us are used to taking naps during the daytime and no doubt it has a good impact on our health. But while taking a daytime nap, you need to avoid too long and irregular naps. Because it will not let you sleep during the night and distort your sleep schedule.
- Your bedroom temperature is important during your sleep time. If you have laid down to sleep, but you are feeling cold or hot, you may not sleep well and experience distorted sleep. So, before going to bed adjust the temperature of the room as per your body’s need.
- Avoid eating heavy meals before bedtime. Because it will disrupt the hormone balance of your body which in turn won’t let you sleep.
- Before going to bed for sleep, clear your mind of all the tensions and worries. Because they wouldn’t let you sleep and restore energy for the next working day.
- It is also recommended to take a bath before bedtime. Because it will soothe your tired body and let you have a good sleep.
Try following these tips to get healthy sleep and if someone doesn’t get benefit out of them, then he should consult a verified physician to diagnose why you are facing difficulty in sleeping.
